Big Changes Await

Our pattern of being bad bloggers continues--such is life with a newborn. Much has changed since our last post.

First, we finally have an apartment in Manhattan, but it getting it was an ordeal. The process was as complicated (if not more so) than buying a house. The first place we looked at and "won" ended up not being available on our move in date. We found a second place and like it much better. So, thankfully, we have signed our lease and will be in the city by the 15th.

We are currently in Georgia. We packed half of our items and brought them to a storage unit in Georgia. We had movers come load the truck for us, which was an ordeal too. We had booked a truck with one company, and on the morning of our move, the guy called to say our truck wasn't available. We had to scramble to find an alternative, and U-Haul had one, thank goodness. Oh, and in the middle of all this, D sold his car to our neighbor's sister, so we were dealing with all that.

We drove down, and our typical 8 hour drive took 14 hours. Never again will we move ourselves with a little baby! We made it and unloaded our stuff into storage and spent the rest of that afternoon catching up on sleep.

During the rest of our week in Georgia, we've spent time with A's family. We celebrated my baby nephew's first birthday, as well as our baby's christening at my grandmother's church on July 4th. The same preacher that married us performed the ceremony, and D's parents made the drive down from Virginia to be here with us. It was a special day. We've gotten my car ready to sell, and we spent some time with my sister and my grandparents. Now, we are wrapping up odds and ends before we pick up our rental car to make the drive back to the Ville.

Hard to believe that in a week we'll be in the city! Stay tuned for updates (once we have internet hooked up in NYC).
