So, it's official. We are among the worst bloggers ever. Oh well. Here is our December update, at any rate. D has finally wrapped up his first semester of school. Exams are done. Now, he's getting ready for January interviews for his summer internship. Actually, right now we are both in New York City. Darden has a job trek called "Week on Wall Street", where students can meet with the investment banks to do final networking. So, D is here for that, and I am here for work as well, going to meet many companies.
NYC is amazing. This is only my second visit here, but it's so great. Sure, it's a fast-paced, crazy city where you see almost anything and everything, but that's what's so neat about it. The people really are nice and helpful, despite the stereotypes. The architecture is nothing short of gorgeous. We went into Grand Central Station earlier this week and it literally took my breath away. I had not expected to see anything like it.
We've seen lots of the major sites in walking to our different meetings: The NY Stock Exchange, the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings, Radio City, the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center plus the skating rink, the (bigger and prettier) skating rink at Bryant Park, the CBS studios where David Letterman's show is recorded, P. Diddy's offices and Bad Boy Entertainment, lots of other company headquarters, Times Square, Broadway and so much more. The best part was our trip to Macy's on 34th St. (as in Miracle on 34th Street!) to see the holiday window displays (and to buy shoes!). It was just so much fun.
I have been to all kinds of cool company visits, which is just a neat, neat part of my job. We've been going non-stop all week, but it really has been fun. We are looking forward to a nice holiday vacation though.
In case the bad blogging continues, we'll go ahead and wish you a Merry Christmas!
